Cordillera Indigenous People’s struggle against the World Bank-funded Chico River Dam

On the International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples, we look back on the victorious struggle of the Cordillera Indigenous Peoples against the World Bank-funded Chico River Dam Project during Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship in the 1960s-1980s. This interview features Ama Banag Sinumlag, Leticia “Tining” Bula-at, and Leonora Membrot. They are Indigenous Peoples from Kalinga province of the Cordillera Region, northern Philippines who were part of the struggle.

This interview was held during the 40th People’s Cordillera Day hosted by the community of Tanglag, Lubuagan, Kalinga on April 23-24, 2024. This video is produced in collaboration with International Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self Determination & Liberation.
